David & Lorraine would like to share the great news that their son Justin Huxtable was crowned Sky Racing Queensland Apprentice of the Year. 2021 on Sunday night.
Both parents are tickled pink that Justin has applied himself so fully & productively to become a quality young jockey. Both have expressed that they are 'So proud of their son and his achievements". It should however be noted that our Kangaroo Island star jockey Justin Huxtable has shone as an apprentice before, winning the Caitlin Forrest Country and Provincial Apprentice Award in 2017.
Justin's completed his 1st year with David at Empress Park Stud. He then shifted a few times including stints with Sue Jaensch at Naracoorte. Justin has spend the past period of his apprenticeship under renown Queensland trainer and former Melbourne Cup winning jockey Chris Munce. Chris recently described Justin's riding ability "“Justin is focused when it comes to riding. He is very switched on as far as how he wants to ride his horses and nine time out of ten he puts them in a good spot." Munce went on to say “He is very eager. He wants to win and be successful and he does all the right things to give himself every opportunity to do that."
The Team at Empress Park proudly congratulates Justin and wishes him the very best for the future both inside and out side of our wonderful sport of thoroughbred racing.
